Hidden Health Hazards in the Workplace: Preventing Toxic Exposures

* How workplace health hazards can adversely affect the health of employees and their families

* Proven strategies for identifying & reducing workplace health hazards

* Tools and techniques to effectively educate employees about workplace health hazards

Did you know that your employee may be exposed to up to 70 times more pollution inside a building than outside! No matter where you work—in manufacturing, construction, auto repair or even in an office—there can be hidden hazards to your health. In fact, the National Institute for Occupational Safety & Health (NIOSH) estimates toxin exposures at work cause
40,000 new cases of cancer and 20,000 cancer deaths in the United States each year. Thanks to funding support from the Delaware Cancer Consortium, the Division of Public Health’s Office of Healthy Environments in partnership with the Delaware Department of Labor’s Office of Occupational Safety & Health Consultation is offering this free breakfast seminar for Delaware employers to send a few of their key employees to attend this training.

Learn how to limit exposure to indoor & outdoor workplace health hazards by attending this free breakfast seminar from 8:30am – 10:30am on one of the following dates:

Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at the Dept. of Labor Fox Valley Annex, 19 Lea Blvd. (next to M&T Bank), Wilmington, DE Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Division of Services for Aging (DSAAPD), 18 N. ANNOUNCEMENT

To my fellow DSA members:

The DSA Board has recently learned that our Executive Director, Michael Love, and Administrative Assistant, Lisa Collins will no longer be able to serve the DSA in their present capacities as of July 1, 2013.

With that said, we are in need of a capable professional who can lead in the capacity of an ED for our organization.

Job Description:  Executive Director.  We are in hopes that a worthy candidate can be found within the ranks of DSA or someone from DelMarVa that a member can vouch for.  However, this will not preclude the Executive Committee from using all means necessary to find the right candidate for the position.

Should you know someone who is interested in the position, please have them contact me via Dorothy.lehmann@comcast.net with a cover letter & resume.

Respectfully submitted,

Dorothy C Lehmann,
President - DSA

Our Mission:
The Delmarva Safety Association (DSA) is a non-profit organization who, through education, promotion and advocacy in safety, reduces injuries, occupational illnesses and economic losses in the workplace and communities on the Delmarva Peninsula.

Who is DSA?
Delmarva Safety Association's officers and board of directors
are dedicated business owners, managers and safety officers from all over the Peninsula.  These volunteers are committed to making a positive impact on reducing injuries in the workplace, primarily through education.

Our spring and fall safety & health conferences are available to the general public.  The one-day format offers comprehensive workshops at affordable rates, and keeps your business flowing by condensing several training sessions into a full day of valuable training and information-sharing opportunities for your employees.

Join us at one of our bi-monthly meetings.  What a great networking opportunity in a smaller, more intimate setting.  Guest speakers are on-hand at each meeting to keep you informed on the latest OSHA updates and opportunities to share what is working in safety in their companies.
Click on the highlighted areas in the calendar to see the event listed.

All bi-monthly meetings are open to the public.  However, preregistration is requested.
